ABOUT US The first Reitmans store opened in 1926, on St. Laurent Boulevard in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.
Herman and Sarah Reitman and their children ran this landmark store, which was a traditional "general" store. It soon became clear, however, that it was the women's ready-to-wear line that was incredibly popular. The second location soon opened, selling only women's apparel, and the rest, as they say, is history.

In addition to over 350 Reitmans stores Canada-wide, the Reitmans group now also includes Smart Set, RW&CO., Penningtons, Addition-Elle, Thyme Maternity, MXM and Cassis.

Penningtons was acquired by Reitmans in February of 1995, and now has over 150 locations across Canada.
